Die Ou Pastorie, dating back to 1819, is one of the oldest remaining buildings in Somerset West. Both the original building and erf were declared a National Monument in 1986.
The main residence was converted into a restaurant in 1981, reconditioned in 1986 and in 1991 the first wing for guest accommodation was added. In 1996 an additional wing was added. The guest accommodation are set in the tranquil garden with rolling green lawns, swimming pool, gazebo and bubbly fountains now boast sixteen bedrooms.
The restaurant has now been transformed into a “Modern Bistro”, with a fresh, vibey atmosphere, more accessible to the general public, without making any concessions to the standards of quality in food and service.
There are 16 rooms comprising eight classic (3 double and 5 twin) rooms, seven deluxe (3 double and 4 twin) rooms and one double suite. The rooms are all classically decorated in Victorian style, capturing the spirit of a bygone era. All rooms are en-suite. The suite and eight classic rooms have separate showers. The suite features a private mini bar as well as a coffee pod machine, allowing guests to make fresh coffee in their own surroundings.
